The Hasler Series
The Hasler Series is run throughout the year, allowing all different ages, abilities and clubs to compete against each other in distances ranging from 4km to 20km. Clubs are allocated to regions where they can compete and host their own event, with the aim of qualifying for the Hasler Final at the end of the season.
Paddlers competing in the Hasler Series are allocated divisions depending on their ability and speed. The division you are allocated also depends on the distance you will paddle within the race. Depending on your results, you could be promoted or offered a demotion through the divisions.
These are the following divisions within the series:
- Division 1, 2, 3 singles or Division 2 or 3 doubles: roughly 20km, which may include portages and/or weir shoots
- Division 4, 5, 6 singles or doubles: roughly 13km, which may include portages and/or weir shoots
- Division 7, 8, 9 singles or doubles: roughly 6.5km
At the end of the season, all the clubs that have earned enough points within each regions qualify to compete in the Hasler Final. Normally hosted at the end of September, the Hasler Final is essentially the “National Team League Championships” where the Hasler Trophy is the ultimate prize for the club scoring the most points.
Some of the other trophies up for grabs at the Hasler Final include:
- The Regional Trophy awarded to the region with the highest score at the final from three clubs
- The Committee Cup awarded to the highest place junior woman K1 in the highest division
- The Ken Pereira Cup awarded to the highest placed junior C1 in the highest division
- The Ross Warland Memorial Trophy awarded to the highest placed junior in the Division 4 race
