Paracanoe Marathon World Championships – Ponte De Lima, Portugal
The ICF have announced they will be offering a Paracanoe event at the World Canoe Marathon Championships. This is a test event but we are excited to be involved and our intention is to select two athletes to represent in any of the following classes:
- WKL2 / WKL3
- WVL2 / WVL3
- MKL2 / MKL3
- MVL2 / MVL3
Important information:
- All classes will be raced over 11.8KM
- Doubling up between KL and VL is possible due to the timetable.
- Dates of travel are 25th September to 1st October 2022
- Athletes will be funded to travel, with only a £300 contribution required.
- Selection will be made at the Marathon Nationals Championships in Worcester on 27th August 2022
- Entries for the Marathon National Championships will stay open until Monday 22nd August 2022 for Para classes
- Classification will be available at the World Championships
- Athletes will travel with one members of staff, this person is yet to be identified

NB: many elements of the event and logistics continue to remain unclear and are subject to change. Although we have every intention to select two athletes to attend, we cannot guarantee this will be possible given the short notice and all of the moving parts. However, we are working with BC and the ICF and continue to have this as our ambition.
